Ruth Viccars is a visual artist and designer based in the north of England. Using a multidisciplinary approach informed by art theory and popular culture, her work often contains themes linking to the self, sexuality and feminism.

 

Spending her teens designing flyers for local shows her background in DIY music and publishing has left a clear mark on her aesthetic and attitude to making work. 

 

Ruth has a particular interest in mixing digital design, photography and filmmaking with analogue, hands on approaches such as printmaking, book binding and illustration. Her current work is focused on small run, hand-bound zines but she looks for any opportunity to apply these skills to different projects and formats.
